Launch Event: “The Protection of Cats and Dogs in EU Law – Companion for Life: From Ownership to Responsibility”

We’re delighted to announce the launch event of our upcoming White Paper with Almo Nature and Deutscher TierschutzBund, “The Protection of Cats and Dogs in EU Law – Companion for Life: From Ownership to Responsibility.”

  • Do we need stronger laws on the protection of cats and dogs?
  • What is the role of EU law in ensuring high protection  levels for companion animals?
  • Are there opportunities to further improve the recently voted Regulation on the Protection of Cats and Dogs and their Traceability?
  • What solutions are needed to enable the regulation to produce its intended effects?
  • How can EU law help transition away from an ownership to a responsibility approach in human-animal relations?

The online launch event on Friday 17th October of the white paper “The Protection of Cats and Dogs in EU Law—Companion for Life: From Ownership to Responsibility” by Almo Nature and The European Institute for Animal Law & Policy will address these questions and more.

The white paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the legal protection applicable to cats and dogs under EU law, the improvements added by the new Regulation on the Protection of Cats and Dogs and their Traceability, and the opportunities to further improve it—as well as how to ensure it brings about its intended effects.

Join us for a discussion with EU policymakers and cats and dogs protection organizations from all over the EU.

The event will be hosted by MEP Dario Nardella.

🗓️ Friday 17th October at 14:00 CET
